Friday Op Shop conversations with Maureen

Reflecting on the conversations I had today with my friend

Every Friday Maureen and I spend our day volunteering at the op shop. We took a little break but now we’re back !! It is actually more like therapy to be able to come in, share our stories of the week and just vent to each other.

We laugh , we cry , but most of all we allow each other to just be. We could probably write a book on all the characters that come into our shop. Sometimes they just need someone to talk to.

Maureen came in last week sharing pictures of this beautiful garden she had found in Auckland. She was amazed and in love with this garden and how peaceful it was. Maureen couldn’t help but think of her best friend who had passed away a few years ago “ she would of loved this place” she said.

This Friday she couldn’t wait to tell me that she ran into her best friends daughter and was telling her how she found this garden and how she sat there and kept thinking about her mother. She stopped Maureen and said “ you don’t know what you have done!” For years her brother had doubts about where he spread his mothers ashes and now she can call him and tell him this beautiful story. He had picked the perfect place for his mothers ashes.

The area where Maureen was sitting in the garden was the same place that her best friends ashes were spread!!! I can’t even begin to tell you or express on this page how much joy that story brought to me. There is a reason we are back together on Fridays, and I am so thankful for all of our conversations.
